Summary
Ridglan Farms has filed two lawsuits related to our efforts. First, they sued the Judge who was handling the Special Prosecutor case. Then they sued us directly.
Lawsuit
On April 4, 2025, Ridglan Farms filed a lawsuit against Dane4Dogs, co-founder Rebekah Robinson, co-founder Jamie Hagenow, and former Ridglan Farms employee Scott Gilbertson, alleging “tortious interference with contractual relationships and willful and malicious injury to business.” Read the press release here.
On June 18, 2025, we filed our response, a Motion to Dismiss. This lawsuit is a textbook attempt to silence constitutionally protected advocacy through costly litigation. Ridglan Farms is suing us for organizing protests, speaking out, and petitioning authorities regarding Ridglan’s treatment of animals. We are being targeted for what the Supreme Court has called core First Amendment activities. Read the press release here.
On August 1, 2025, Ridglan filed a response to our Motion to Dismiss.
On August 19, Ridglan filed a notice of dismissal for Scott Gilberton after being unable to serve him with the lawsuit, and the judge dismissed Scott from the case on August 20.
On August 22, we filed a reply to Ridglan’s response to our Motion to Dismiss.
On October 9, Judge Frost heard oral arguments relating to the Motion to Dismiss.
What’s next
The judge will release his decision on whether to dismiss the case against the remaining defendants (Dane4Dogs, Robinson, Hagenow). If he dismisses it, then it’s over. If he doesn’t, then we move into Discovery phase, which is where both sides get to depose witnesses and obtain documents/information relevant to the case.
